PawDex is proudly designed as a local-first application. This Local Storage Policy details how we store, manage, and protect your data locally, ensuring you retain absolute ownership and control over your digital footprint.

1. Device-Only Storage Architecture

By default, all user data (profiles, health logs, settings) are stored strictly within the secure sandboxed storage allocated to the PawDex app by your device's OS (Android or iOS).

2. Data Ownership and Portability

You maintain full ownership of your data. The app provides tools to Export (JSON/CSV), Import (Restore backups), and Delete all local data completely.

3. Third-Party Integrations and Tokens

Opt-in integrations (like Google Drive backups) store secure tokens encrypted via the device's secure enclave (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain).

4. Cache and Temporary Files

Temporary cache files (e.g. breed database images) are saved locally for speed and are routinely cleared by the OS when space is needed.

5. Legal Limitations of Local Storage

Because your data lives only on your phone, you are responsible for maintaining backups. PawDex is not liable for data loss from device failure or app uninstallation.
