At PawDex ("we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the PawDex mobile application (the "App") and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

1. Information We Collect and How We Collect It

PawDex requires an account and stores your data on our servers so that it syncs across devices and survives a lost or replaced phone. We collect several types of information from and about users of our App:

Account Information: Your email address, and your name if you provide one. An account is required to use the App. You can register with an email address and password, or sign in with Google.
Pet Data: Your pet's breed, age, weight, activity and walk history, feeding and nutrition logs, medications, appointments, vaccination records, health certificates, and any notes you add. This data is stored on our servers, associated with your account.
Photos and Documents: Images and PDFs you upload, including photos submitted to the AI scanner. These are stored with our file storage provider and are not kept only on your device.
AI Conversations: Your questions to the AI assistant and its responses, retained as chat history so conversations persist between sessions.
Usage Details: Analytical data about how you interact with the App, used for diagnosing bugs and improving the product.

Some data is also cached on your device so the App works while offline. That cache is a copy for performance, not the primary location of your records.

2. How We Use Your Information

To present our App and its contents to you.
To provide you with personalized pet nutrition insights and feeding schedules.
To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information. We may disclose aggregated, anonymized information about our users without restriction. We share data with the service providers below, which process it on our behalf in order to run the App.

Service providers we use

Google Firebase (authentication and database): stores your account and your pet records.
Google Gemini (AI): processes the questions you send the AI assistant and any photos you submit to the scanner, in order to generate a response.
Cloudinary (file storage): stores images and documents you upload.
Render (hosting): runs the PawDex backend service.

These providers may process and store data outside your country of residence. We do not use third-party advertising networks.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active, because the purpose of the App is to keep a continuous health history for your pet. A weight trend or a vaccination record is only useful if it is still there years later.

Account and pet records: Retained while your account is active. This includes pet profiles, walk and activity history, weight logs, nutrition records, medications, appointments, vaccination records, and certificates.
Uploaded photos and documents: Retained while your account is active, or until you delete the individual item in the App.
AI conversation history: Retained while your account is active so that conversations persist between sessions.
Diagnostic and usage logs: Retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
On-device cache: Removed when you sign out or uninstall the App.

Deleting your data. You can request deletion of your account and its associated data by writing to support@welltide.app. We action deletion requests within 30 days. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to a further 90 days, after which they are overwritten.

We may retain a limited record of a deletion request, and any data we are required to keep by law, after an account is closed. We do not retain your pet records after deletion for any other purpose.

5. GDPR and CCPA Compliance

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, you have certain data protection rights under GDPR/CCPA. We aim to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page. Material changes trigger in-app alerts.
